The Office of Transit offers marketing and advocacy-building tools to assist transit systems in increasing public awareness of their transit service. Coloring books for school age children, brochures listing the names and locations of Ohio's transit systems, and a public transportation video
have been distributed and is all available upon request. Sample advertising
and marketing ideas are periodically mailed to transit systems. Other public relations techniques to help stimulate ridership and increase community awareness are also included.
The Office of Transit adopted a formal Public Transportation logo and color scheme which it has incorporated on mailings and publications. Vehicle decals featuring the logo were distributed to all of Ohio's public transit systems and specialized transportation providers and are available
on request from the Office of Transit, (614)
466-8955.
The Office of Transit developed a video for Ohio's transit systems to use as an advocacy tool to promote transit service in Ohio. The video, "Public Transportation in Ohio: Answering Needs, Offering Choices", shows all forms of transit available in Ohio along with the variety of passengers who use transit.
ODOTs Office of Transit prides itself in the level and quality of technical service provided to its customers. Technical assistance comes in many forms, from PT and other transit staff working one on one as mentors to assist with applications and invoices to training and workshops to feasibility studies and analyses under the Ohio Technical Assistance Program (OTEC).
