Gateway Landscaping Program

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is sewing the seeds of pride in communities around the state through the Gateway Landscaping Program.

This program, funded by Federal Transportation Enhancement Funds, has set aside $500,000 for highway landscaping in Ohio communities. It will provide aesthetically appealing corridors leading into Ohio ’s cities and villages.

The Program provides:

bullet

Funding for the purchase of trees, shrubs, mulch, soil amendments and other landscaping materials to establish corridor enhancements along state highway rights-of-way.

bulletPlants and landscaping materials are the only eligible costs funded by the program. Labor, equipment rental, landscape design cost, and other maintenance costs will not be funded.

Local governments must agree to provide:

bullet Litter removal, landscaping installation and maintenance, and general aesthetic improvements to the state highway right-of-way.

This program allows local governments and civic groups to beautify the highway gateways into their communities, and at the same time, helps ODOT concentrate their efforts on highway repairs. It creates a partnership where everyone wins!
