Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Ohio's SRTS program.
Q. Can my organization apply for funds for an infrastructure project if we do not have a School Travel plan in place.
A. No, The plan is needed to identify solutions, funding for particular projects can be requested when the comprehensive plan is complete. Check here for information on Developing a School Travel plan.Q. Will ODOT reimburse for force account labor?
A. ODOT is unable to reimburse force account labor.
Q. Who can do the traffic study required for the SRTS comprehensive plan?
A. The community may have an engineer on staff who can complete this portion of the plan, if they have to hire an engineering firm, it must be one on the ODOT list of firms certified to do safety studies.Q. Our community has K-8 students who walk from various residential areas to the 9-12 high school to load on buses for transportation to the K-8 school. Would sidewalks to the school where they load on the buses be an eligible SRTS activity?

A. This is in effect a "staging" area. Funds can not be used to build sidewalks to "staging" areas.
